The Higher Diploma in Information Technology (IT) is designed to equip students with the essential knowledge, practical skills, and professional competencies required to thrive in today’s technology-driven environment. As organisations increasingly rely on digital systems to support operations, decision-making, and innovation, the demand for IT professionals with strong foundational and applied skills continues to grow. This programme offers a solid pathway for students aspiring to enter the IT industry or advance to degree studies, including the BSc (Hons) Cyber Security or BSc (Hons) Information Technology (BSc (Hons) Information Technology) under the Teesside University programme.

Throughout the programme, students are exposed to a wide range of core IT areas, including programming, network technology, system analysis and design, database system, computer security, systems analysis, and advanced web technologies. These modules are carefully structured to build both theoretical understanding and hands-on proficiency. Students learn to design and manage databases, implement network solutions, and understand key security principles that protect systems and data. In addition, they gain insights into emerging technologies, skills that are increasingly valued by employers.

A distinctive feature of the MDIS Dushanbe’s Higher Diploma is its emphasis on applied learning. • Foundation Year Certificate; OR
• Obtained at least a Grade ‘E’ at GCE ‘A’ Levels in any 2 subjects; OR
• International Foundation Diploma in Information Technology awarded by MDIS; OR
• Diploma from recognised local polytechnics / pathway programmes from other PEIs; OR
• International applicants must have completed 12 years of formal Education; OR
• Mature candidates (≥30 years old with 8 years relevant work experience); OR

The applicant is required to achieve one of the following: At least a Grade ‘C6’ at GCE ‘O’ Level in Mathematics OR to pass the MDIS Mathematics Entrance Test (If an applicant fails the MDIS Mathematics Entrance Test, he or she is required to study, complete and pass the Online Mathematics Preparation Course. The applicant will then proceed to take the MDIS Mathematics Entrance Test the 2nd time.

Local applicants who do not meet all the minimum entry requirements will be classified as non-standard entry must study online to complete and pass the Online Mathematics / English Preparation Course, passed the MDIS Mathematics / English Entrance Test and an interview.  Students are given 3 attempts for MDIS Mathematics / English Entrance Test and Online Mathematics / English Preparation Course.

International applicants who do not meet all the minimum entry requirements must sit for MDIS On-line Mathematics Test/ On-line English Placement Test (OEPT) administered by the Central Registry.

• Achieved a minimum band of 5.5 in IELTS or equivalent; OR
• To pass the MDIS English Entrance Test; OR
• MDIS Professional Certificate in English OR
• C6 pass in English at GCE ‘O’ level or equivalent; OR
• Letter from College/University clearly stating the Medium of Instruction of the highest qualification to be English
• Achieve a minimum score of 85 and above in Duolingo English Test
