October 2, 2023 – This date became an important moment in the history of education in Tajikistan as the Management Development Institute of Singapore in Dushanbe (MDIS Dushanbe) opened its doors to the very first Foundation Year Certificate programme students, providing them with a unique opportunity to receive a world-class higher education.

The opening ceremony of the first academic year at MDIS Dushanbe was held in a solemn atmosphere, underscoring the importance of this event for the whole country. The Rector of MDIS Dushanbe, Respected Mukhtorov Zaynidin Mukhtorovich, gave an inspiring speech emphasising the value of education and its role in shaping future leaders. He encouraged students to strive for knowledge and development and also reiterated the importance of studying in English, noting that it opens the door to international opportunities.

One of the key moments of the ceremony is the reading of the student oath and the transfer of the “key of knowledge,” symbolising the students’ commitment to education and career growth. This moment epitomises MDIS Dushanbe’s goal not only to provide knowledge but also to develop responsible and competent professionals and market leaders.

The event, both online and offline, was attended by: the First Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Investments and State Property Management of the Republic of Tajikistan, Respected Faizullozoda Khurshed Mirzo; Deputy Director of the Civil Service Agency under the President of Tajikistan, Ms. Dilnoza Ahmadzoda; Head of the International Relations Department of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Farrukh Khudoydodzoda; as well as partners from the private sector, Avesto Group LLC, TGEM LLC, Koinoti Nav Group of Companies. It is worth noting that this event is part of a strategy to expand the global education network, providing students with the opportunity to receive a quality education at the global level, without leaving Dushanbe.

Also, the official representatives of the MDIS campus – President of MDIS, Dr. Eric Kuan Choon Hock; Secretary-General of MDIS, Mr. Shareef Bin Abdul Jaffar; and Assistant Secretary-General of MDIS, Mr. Roger Tham Kong Khuan expressed confidence in the high quality of education at MDIS Dushanbe and the opportunity to study with qualified foreign teachers in internationally accredited programmes.

MDIS Dushanbe is the third overseas campus of the Management Development Institute of Singapore, founded in 1956, and is one of Singapore’s oldest non-profit institutes for lifelong learning. It provides international study programmes to its students, collaborating with renowned UK university partners. A special feature of studying at MDIS Dushanbe is that students are taught using international methods exclusively in English. This gives students a real chance for a successful career not only in Tajikistan but also in any country in the world, receiving a diploma from a UK partner university (University of Sunderland, UK).
